Billecart-Salmon Nicholas Francois 2008

Crafted in tribute to the house’s founder, the 2008 Nicolas François is a Champagne of precision, power, and poise, reflecting the excellence of a near-perfect vintage. Though no longer labelled under the “Grand Cuvée” classification, it stands as one of Billecart-Salmon’s most profound expressions—a seamless blend of Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from some of Champagne’s finest terroirs.

Appearance

Brilliant golden yellow, with radiant clarity and a stream of fine, chiselled bubbles, speaking to its extended ageing and finesse.

Aroma

The bouquet is layered and refined, opening with orchard fruits, roasted almond, and frangipane, evolving into notes of candied mandarin peel, acacia blossom, and rose petals an aromatic profile both delicate and richly expressive.

Palate

The palate delivers tension and depth in equal measure. Flavours of fresh quince, yellow raspberry, and honey biscuit unfold over a vibrant spine of limestone-driven minerality. As the wine evolves in the glass, it reveals deeper nuances of fig, liquorice, and a curious whisper of tomato leaf, finishing with lasting impressions of toasted brioche, bergamot, and chalk.

Finish

Long, textured, and resonant, this is a wine of great aging potential yet drinking beautifully now with proper aeration.
